Netflix is reintroducing us to the Addams family from the grim point of view of Wednesday Addams. The series is an 8 episode journey through Wednesday’s experience at her boarding school Nevermore. Wednesday is directed and produced by Tim Burton. Immediately the series has the Burton filter over the characters from make-up to mannerisms and the overall gothic fantasy vibe.

One of my favorite things about the series is the casting.  Wednesday is played by Jenna Ortega. Ortega has a long resume but I could not pinpoint a stand-out role for me. Until now, it is as though she were born to be Wednesday. Christina Ricci is casted as a teacher which is excellent as she played Wednesday herself in the 1991 The Addams family movie.  Catherine Zeta Jones and Luis Guzman play Morticia and Gomez Addams. I’m still on the fence with Guzman’s Gomez. Nevermore’s administrator is played by Gwendolyn Christie who starred as Brienne in Game of Thrones and Lucifer in The Sandman.  Christie hasn’t failed me yet with her sheer magnificence in her presence. I want to see more of her.

If you haven’t checked out the series yet, you should. I still have 2 episodes to finish the series but I’m on board for season 2.
