TIR’s Take on The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5
I’m admittedly late to the game, but I finally finished Season 5 of The Handmaid’s Tale. After being let down by Season 4, I initially skipped over it, but I’m so glad I decided to go back. Season 5 offers a marked improvement, breathing some much-needed life back into the series.
A Step Up from Season 4
While it doesn’t quite reach the brilliance of the first two seasons, Season 5 delivers stronger storytelling and more engaging character dynamics. The stakes may not be as high anymore, but the tension is palpable enough to keep you hooked.
June and Serena’s Shifting Dynamic
The evolving relationship between June and Serena is the season’s standout feature. While their interactions were somewhat predictable, the emotional depth and execution made for compelling television. Watching them navigate a shared history of trauma while standing on opposite sides of the conflict is both chilling and fascinating.

Anticipation for Season 6
With Season 6 on the horizon this spring, I’m genuinely excited to see how the story concludes. Will June and her family make it to Hawaii, or will New Bethlehem become their new prison? The final season promises to tie up loose ends, and I can’t wait to see how it all plays out.
Should You Watch The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5?
Absolutely. If you’ve been hesitant after Season 4, rest assured that Season 5 is a significant improvement. It’s worth diving back in, especially with the final season around the corner.
TIR Rating: 7.5/10
Season 5 strikes a good balance between tension and character-driven storytelling, setting the stage for an exciting finale.
