Peacock’s new original series premiered on September 5th releasing the first three episodes. Fight Night is a star studded comedic event, including Samuel L. Jackson, Kevin Hart, Taraji P. Henson, Terrence Howard and Don Cheadle. According to Peacock, the series is based on true events that occurred in the 1970s following a Muhammed Ali fight in Atlanta. Kevin Hart’s character, The Chicken Man, hosts a fight party with an infamous guest list who are hostages of an armed robbery.

Spoiler-free Pros and Cons to decide if you want to Watch it or Skip it.
Pros to watch Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist:
- Casting: At times movies and TV series pack in familiar names and top tier actors in a film or series only to have it fall flat because the plot is lost to the many stars, this is not one of those times. Any one of the main characters could be a solo star of their own series but there is no air of competition in Fight Night. Cheadle, Jackson and Hart are stand-outs in the first 3 episodes.
- Funny & Thrilling: The series is both funny and intriguing. The comedy is not overshadowing the plot. The story is as good as it is funny.
- Well-done: The 70s were a tumultuous time for Black Film but Fight Night covers the atmosphere of the era and the tone of media at the time without crossing into blacksploitation territory
Cons:
- Commercials & It’s not finished: There isn’t much in the way of cons for the series other than there are only 3 episodes and there are ads on my Peacock plan. Since the series isn’t finish there is always a risk that they won’t stick the ending; however, based on the first 3 episodes it’s a must see.
- Ali: Not a big con but Dexter Darden’s Muhammed Ali started off a little weak and only improved a little by the end of episode 3. The portrayal comes of as cosplay but not bad enough to avoid the series.

TIRRecommends: Yes, put it at the top of your Watch List. It’s a good time if you like to laugh and if you like period pieces. Samuel L. Jackson & Kevin Hart.
